Job Description

The University of Dubai is seeking a highly motivated Researcher to join the MBRSC Lab, a research and development (R&D) hub sponsored by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre and funded by the ICT Fund. The selected candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Image Processing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus on developing innovative AI algorithms for geospatial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support AI research projects by collecting and analyzing remote sensing data, conducting literature reviews, and building/testing AI/ML models.
  • Develop AI/ML models to analyze satellite imagery for image classification, object detection, and segmentation.
  • Process and analyze Earth observation datasets, including optical imagery, SAR, and drone-acquired data.
  • Contribute to technical reports, scientific publications, and present research findings at flagship conferences.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master degree in GIS, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven research experience with a strong publication record.
  • Proven programming skills in Python and machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Proficiency with GIS and remote sensing software (ArcGIS, ENVI, QGIS, etc.).
  • Strong adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies rapidly.
