Lab Engineer / Teaching Assistant in Computer Engineering – Robotics

Job Description

The College of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Dubai is looking for a motivated Lab Engineer / Teaching Assistant, preferably specializing in Robotics to support teaching activities, research and development in our Computer Engineering department starting Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will manage and maintain laboratories, conduct and assist for hands-on laboratory courses, support faculty and students in research projects, and ensure the smooth operation of lab equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of lab sessions, development of lab manuals, and provide guidance to students
• Maintain, organize, and upgrade lab equipment, both hardware and software
• Support ongoing research projects in areas such as autonomous systems, AI-driven robotics, embedded systems, and industrial automation
• Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols and maintain proper documentation of procedures
• Work closely with faculty, students, and external partners to enhance lab capabilities and support innovative projects.
Qualification and Skills requirement:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with robotic platforms, microcontrollers, AI/ML applications in robotics, and programming (Python, Java, C++, ROS1/ROS2).
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as MATLAB, Gazebo, or SolidWorks, as well as 3D printing and laser cutting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues.
• Ability to assist students and faculty effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with robotic arms, drones, and autonomous vehicles.
• Previous experience in a university of research lab setting is preferred.
