Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering
Job Description
The College of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Dubai is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering, preferably specializing in Robotics, to contribute to teaching, research, and program development within the Computer Engineering department starting Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, conducting innovative research, and engaging in service activities that support the university’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in robotics, AI-driven automation, software engineering, embedded systems, and control systems.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and research activities.
• Develop and enhance laboratory experiments, course materials, and curriculum related to robotics and intelligent systems.
• Conduct innovative research in areas such as autonomous systems, machine learning for robotics, robotic perception, human-robot interaction, and industrial automation.
• Secure external research funding through grants and industry collaborations.
• Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Engage with industry and academic partners to support research and student experiential learning opportunities.
• Participate in university service, accreditation activities, and program development.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field from an internationally recognized institution.
• Strong research track record with publications in reputable journals and conferences.
• Expertise in robotic platforms, autonomous systems, AI/ML applications in robotics, and embedded systems.
• Proficiency in robotics programming (Python, C++, ROS1/ROS2, MATLAB) and familiarity with robotic simulation tools (Gazebo, SolidWorks, Simulink).
• Experience with robotic arms, drones, mobile robots, 3D printing, laser cutting, and industrial automation.
• Prior university-level teaching experience and curriculum development are preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
